How Re:Mind Can Help
This course is designed to support many different aspects of mental health and well-being. By applying the tools you learn each week, you can create meaningful changes in every area of your life. Below is some information on a few of the main areas where it can help.

Anxiety
We all feel a little nervous from time to time. Nerves are part of our natural defence mechanisms, but sometimes our worries can become little a bit much to bear. Do you find yourself constantly worrying about the future? Perhaps you find yourself panicking about things you know shouldn’t worry you? Anxiety is our body’s way of telling us that there is something we should be running away from. However, as we’ve evolved, the signals have gotten a little mixed up– after all, we no longer face life or death threats, like sabre-toothed tigers, on a day to day basis! Re:Mind is designed to help you to engage the calm and rational part of your brain that can recognise what we might need to be a little nervous about, and the things we do not need to worry about at all. It can help you learn how and why anxiety becomes a problem, and develop tools to help you quieten those worrisome thoughts, so that you can go through your day feeling calm and collected.

Confidence
Do you struggle to speak up for yourself, or feel awkward in social situations? Confidence affects many areas of our lives, from work to friendships and relationships. Sometimes it can feel hard to believe in ourselves or our abilities, but here at Re:Mind we can help you find that inner confidence. We will help you tame that inner critic and put that negative voice of self-doubt and self-criticism to rest. The inner stories that we tell ourselves have a huge impact on our behaviours and moods, and therefore on what we are capable of and what we can achieve. If we are constantly battling a voice telling us that we are not good enough, or are a failure, or that no one likes us, then why even try? When you have belief in yourself, a world of opportunities opens up for you. Re:Mind will help you find and master the tricks and tools to help quieten the negative self-talk, while practicing and building your self-confidence. This program can help with:  Confidence at work  Social confidence  Public speaking  Sports performance/confidence  Self confidence and self esteem

Motivation
Do you have a big goal in mind? It could be a promotion, a sports achievement, starting a family, planning a wedding, a new hobby, or setting up a new business. Perhaps you are struggling to get started? Maybe you have gotten stuck along the way? Through understanding the brain, its inner workings, motivators and avoidance tactics, you can start to use it in a way that best suits you and your goals. Re:Mind can helps you to not only break down you goal into achievable bite-sized chunks, but also to learn how to deal with any hiccups along the way. Our program is solution focused, which means we are always looking forward towards the solutions. We will teach you how to learn from your mistakes, rather than be beaten by them, and how to find the solution, rather than dwell on the problem.

Anger
We all react differently to stress. Some people get anxious, others feel low, and sometimes people may even express stress through anger. Anger can manifest itself in many ways. Sometimes it’s internalised – people push your buttons while you continue to fester below the surface. Other times it can be more obvious – exploding into a rage, shouting and maybe even stomping or slamming doors. Anger is our brain’s way of telling us that something isn’t right and that something needs to change. It evolved as a way to protect us from predators, but rather than throwing spears at sabre-toothed tigers, these days we’re throwing them at someone who didn’t indicate when changing lanes. Here at Re:Mind, we will teach you how to tap into the voice of calm and reason, which can sometimes seem no more than a whisper or an after thought after the event. We can help you to reduce your stress levels so that you can be calmer and more in control of your moods and behaviours – recognising when a spear is needed, and when it most definitely isn’t!

Low Mood
Sometimes life can really get us down. It could be a whole range of things that make us feel low, but the one thing that remains constant is our thoughts. When our thoughts are negative, worrisome or critical, it can make us feel down. And when we feel down, we are far less likely to want to do the things that could cheer us up, like meeting up with friends or doing a hobby. Re:Mind can help you recognise the unhelpful, negative thoughts that bring you down – and, more importantly, how to turn them around. With the help of the tools and skills we’ll teach you, you can rewire your brain, retraining your thinking to find more motivation, confidence, and ultimately happiness. Re:Mind is not a substitute for medical health care. If you are clinically depressed, or worried you may be, please speak with your GP or visit a therapist for one-on-one sessions. Lucy offers online and near Bath, and below are some resources for finding a hypnotherapist in your area. www.hypnotherapy-directory.org.uk www.afsfh.org

Stress
Believe it or not, stress is a relatively new term in the world of science and psychology, but these days it is wreaking havoc on our mental and physical health. We live in a fast-paced world where we are increasingly working harder and longer. For some, this causes a state of stress. It could be your job, becoming a parent, or money concerns – the cause of the stress is irrelevant. What matters are its effects. When we are in a state of high levels of stress, our bodies are flooded with stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenalin, which can have a major impact on both our mental and physical well being. High levels of stress can cause breakdowns in relationships, sleep problems, poor performance at work, short temper or moody behaviour – to name just a few. If you are struggling to handle your stress levels, get in touch. Our program can help you learn about what stress is and why we have it. More importantly, it will help you learn how to handle any stresses thrown your way. You will discover ways of working smarter, rather than harder, and how to switch off after a long day. And if you can manage your stress, you can flourish!
